Men’s Group
As a vital part of the congregational life of Saint James, the Men’s Breakfast Group provides a chance for men to come together in a casual atmosphere in fellowship and devotion to explore a wide range of topics that explore our faith through life.

We meet on the second Saturday of each month. We usually prepare and serve breakfast in the church kitchen. At times we support the church’s other Ministries and are rewarded by the women who prepare breakfast for us. Conversation during breakfast is lively, touching on sports, travel, music, art, government, tax tips, exercise, politics, even church developments and support to the church.

This effort of the Men’s Breakfast Group to assist Saint James is dramatic. The value of volunteer services is to determine whether Saint James would have purchased the services if they had not been donated. Specialized skills provided include painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, lawn services and other crafts. There is no higher calling for us than providing for the Lord.

Threads
The “Threads” handwork group started some years ago in order for people with handwork skills to share and teach them to anyone with interest. We get together to knit, crochet, embroider, work needlepoint and sew. We share patterns, ideas, hints, leftover or extra materials and assist each other when a “how-to” question arises. The group is open to all and several attendees are friends or family of Saint James members who enjoy sharing their interests and fellowship.

Threads meets on the third Monday of each month at 10:00 a.m.

We meet in a room on the west end of the church. Peek in and tap on window, if red doors are locked! Drop in for two hours or as long as you’d like. Any crafty projects from cross-stitch, crochet, knitting, and more are worked on. Beginners to experts are welcome.

Prayer Quilt Ministry
Prayer is a powerful tool that God has provided for us. But can you touch a prayer? Can you pull it close and feel its warmth and comfort? You can answer these questions with a definite “yes” if it is part of a Prayer Quilt!

The Prayer Quilt Ministry is a way to combine the gift of a quilt with the gift of prayer for someone in need. The purpose of the Prayer Quilt Ministry is not to make and distribute quilts, but to promote prayer through the use of quilts. The quilt is simply the prayer carrier. This is not just a gift of a quilt – it is a gift of love and prayer. It is a statement of faith in God and in His power to comfort, strengthen, and heal. As a special gift of love, the quilts can be made for anyone facing health related problems or a personal crisis.
We make every attempt to create a quilt that relates to the recipient be it their special color, their favorite Bible verse, fabrics that represent their love for music, or their hobbies, whatever can bring the most comfort to the individual. During the quilt making process we may reminisce or share stories of this person, talk about their good deeds, take photos of our progress and also create a little memory book to go along with their quilt.

How can You get involved? We can always use volunteers. God can bless so many people through this ministry. If you think God is calling you to be part of this ministry, we would love to have you. You do not need to be experienced in quilting. Just drop in on the second or fourth Saturday of the month from 9:00 – Noon and we’ll tell you how you can help.
The Saint James United Methodist Church Prayer Quilt Ministry meets in the Conference Room the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each Month – 9:00am to 12:00pm
